BLOOMINGTON, ILL- The second round of the Championship at Illinois State University came to a close this afternoon for the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour. Michael Mounce (2015) of El Paso, Ill., fired a three-under-par 68 and has a three shot lead in the Boys Division. Grace Dunn in the Girls Division remains in the lead after carding a two-day total of 153. The College Men Division leader is Adam Baracani of Normal, Ill., after shooting a second round total of 152. In the College Women Division, Kiley Walsh of Mount Prospect, Ill., also remains in the lead after carding a total of 154 after the second round.
The 2015 MAJGT Championship at Illinois State University is a 54-hole stroke play competition featuring 92 junior golfers and college level golfers representing Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and Iowa. This tournament featured the par-71 Weibring Golf Course. The Boys Division played from 6,769 yards and the Girls Division played from 5,858 yards. The College Men Division played from 6,916 yards while the College Women Division played from 6,045 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior and college level golfers throughout the Midwest and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and the American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Mounce’s first round consisted of four birdies and an eagle for a two-day total of 133 . David Perkins (2016) of East Peoria, Ill. is in second place for the division after carding a two-under-par 69 for a two-day total of 141, followed by a three-way tie for third at 144.
In the Girls Division, Dunn carded 2 birdies and shot a 79 in the second round. In second place is Roshannah Gaur (2018) of Hinsdale, Ill., after carding a 79 for a total score of 154, followed by Erin Bruns (2016) of Burr Ridge, Ill., who shot a 74 for a total score of 157.
Baracani came out on top shooting a 74 after finishing second after round one. In second is Trace Moustakas of Palos Heights., with a second round total of 78 and two-round total of 155, followed by Nate Elser of St. Charles, Ill., in third after shooting a six-over-par 77 for a two day total of 157.
In the College Women Division, Walsh shot a total of six birdies to stay in the lead. Angie Kim of Schaumburg, Ill., is in second after shooting an eight-over-par 79 for a total of 155. Maggie Ambrose of Springfield, Ill., is sitting in third place with after shooting 81 for an overall total of 159.
