LAKE BLUFF, Ill. – The Summer Jr Elite Series #4 at Lake Bluff came to a close Tuesday after two days of golf. The Illinois Junior Golf Association named three champions, James Trachsel (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., took top honors in the Boys 12-15 Division. In the Boys 10-11 Division, Asa Thompson (2023) of Lake Forest, Ill., took champion honors and in the Girls 10-15 Division, Emma Hayes (2019) of St. Charles, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard.
The SJES #4 @ Lake Bluff was a 36-hole, stroke play event hosted at the Lake Bluff Golf Club. The Boys 12-15 Division played the par 72 course from 6,091 yards, the Boys 10-11 Division played from 5,018 yards and the Girls 10-15 Division played from 5,018 yards.
The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.
In the Boys 12-15 Division, Trachsel carded a final round score of 1-over-par 73, which included one eagle and three birdies, moving his tournament total to 3-over-par 147.
Four shots back was runner-up Stewart Leigh (2020) of Clarendon Hills, Ill., with a tournament total of 7-over-par 151. Tied for third were Joshua LaBounty (2020) of Elmhurst, Ill., and Luke Tedford (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., each finishing the two days with a tournament total of 9-over-par 153. Rounding out the top-5 was Jared Grossmann (2020) of Highland Park, Ill., with a tournament total of 11-over-par 155.
In the Boys 10-11 Division, Thomas carded two birdies and eight pars during the final round moving his tournament total to 16-over-par 160.
In the Girls 10-15 Division, Hayes held on to her first round lead to finish the tournament with a 14-over-par 158 tournament total. Coming in runner-up was Emily Nay (2020) of Naperville, Ill., who carded a 15-over-par 159 tournament total. Rounding out the top-3 was Bryana Hogan (2021) of North Barrington, Ill., with a two day total of 21-over-par 165.
The final SJES event will take place at Naperbrook GC on August 4-5, 2016.
