CHANNAHON, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour hosted the Heritage Bluffs Open at Heritage Bluffs Golf Course this past weekend. In the Boys Division, Gabe Larson (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill., earned champion honors. In the Girls Division, Nicole Ciskowski (2019) of Lake Barrington, Ill., finished the event atop the leaderboard.
The Heritage Bluffs Open was a 36-hole, stroke play event contested on the par 72, Heritage Bluffs Golf Course in Channahon, Ill. The Boys Division played the course from 7,106 yard and the Girls Division played from 6,002 yards. The field featured 68 junior golfers from Illinois and Indiana.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Larson carded a final round 3-under-par 69 to move his tournament total to an even-par 144. His final round included five birdies. This was Larson’s first MAJGT victory.
Coming in runner-up with a tournament total of 2-over-par 146 was Garrett Tighe (2019) of Algonquin, Ill. In third place was Mac McClear (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill., with a 3-over-par 147 tournament total. Rounding out the top five, both carding a 10-over-par 154 were William Marshall (2019) of Elburn, Ill., and Josh Lundmark (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill.
In the Girls Division, Ciskowski finished the event with a tournament total of 9-over-par 153. She carded two birdies and 14 pars to finish the final round with an even-par 72. This was Ciskowski’s second MAJGT victory, her first coming at the 2016 Autumn Open.
Three shots back was Sarah Arnold (2019) of St. Charles, Ill., with a 12-over-par 156 tournament total. Rounding out the top three were Emma Carpenter (2019) of DeKalb, Ill., and Penelope Tir (2019) of Winnetka, Ill., each carded a tournament total of 16-over-par 160.
The next stop for the MAJGT is Sanctuary Golf Course in New Lenox, Ill., April 22-23, 2017.
