OSWEGO, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour hosted the final event of the spring season this past weekend at Fox Bend Golf Club in Oswego, Ill. In the Boys Division, Samuel Anderson (2017) of Stoughton, Wis., took champion honors, while in the Girls Division, Symantha Rohwedder (2020) of Prospect Heights, Ill., took top honors.
The Fox Bend Open was a 36 holes, stroke play event contested at the par 72 Fox Bend Golf Club. The field featured 101 junior golfers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The Boys Division played the course from 6,890 yards. The Girls Division played the course from 6,080 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Anderson carded a 3-under-par 141 tournament total to earn his first MAJGT victory. During the first round, Anderson carded an eagle and five birdies en route to his first round 4-under-par 68. Holding on to his lead with a 1-under-par 35 front nine during the final round before finishing the day at 1-over-par 73.
In a tie for second was Tyler Bussert (2018) of Port Byron, Ill., and Adian Lafferty (2019) of Downers Grove, Ill., each finishing the event at even-par 144. In fourth was Dallas Koth (2018) of Bloomington, Ill., with a 2-over-par 146 tournament total. Rounding out the top 5 was Justin Seymour (2018) of Wheaton, Ill., who finished the two days at 4-over par 148.
In the Girls Division, Rohwedder, also earning her first MAJGT victory at Fox Bend, carded a tournament total of 9-over-par 153. Rohwedder carded a bogey free front nine during the final round before finishing the day at 2-over-par 74.
Coming in runner-up was Shannyn Vogler (2022) of Sherrard, Ill., with a tournament total of 10-over-par 154. In third was Brianne Bolden (2019) of Mokena, Ill., with a tournament total of 11-over-par 155.
The MAJGT summer season will kick off with the Second City Classic June 7-8 in Homewood, Ill.
