TARZANA, Cali. – IJGA member Megan Furtney and her partner Erica Shepherd, competed in the USGA’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball at the El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Cali., this week. The pair, who are both Duke University commits for 2019, were the 13 seed team entering the Match Play rounds.
In the Round of 32, the pair went 3up on No. 17 to defeat Alexandra Swayne and Sara Willis. The Round of 16 ended when Furtney and Shepherd went 2up with one to play, which earned them their place in the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal match put the pair up against Momoka Kobori and Hira Naveed, which they defeated 2&1. Furtney and Shepherd ultimately fell to Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor during the semifinals. Prendergast and Secor went on to defeat Yachun Chang and Lei Ye in the championship match.
