ITASCA, Ill. – The 40th Chick Evans Junior Amateur Championship concluded Thursday after four days of competitive golf. The tournament started out with two-days of Stroke Play Qualifying before the cut was made for Match Play. The 2020 Champions of this event were Catie Nekola and Patrick Adler.
Girls Championship Match:
Catie Nekola vs. Elyssa Abdullah – Nekola went 1-up on No. 3 before the Match returned to All-Square on No. 4. She took the Lead again on No. 7, holding her 1-up lead through the turn. The Match returned to All-Square on No. 10 but Nekola took the lead again on the 15th hole. Nekola defeated Abdullah 1-up.
Boys Quarter Finals:
Match 1: Will Stewart vs. Noah Zyung – The Match remained All-Square thru 10, with Stewart taking the lead on No. 11. A string of birdies by Stewart put him 4-up on No. 14. Stewart defeated Zyung 4 and 3.
Match 3: Dominic Scaletta vs Patrick Adler – Scaletta took the lead on No. 6, holding the lead through the turn, before Adler brought the Match back to All-Square on No. 10. Scaletta took the lead again on No. 12 but the Match once again returned to All-Square on No. 15. Adler defeated Scaletta on the 19th Hole to advance to the Championship Round.
Boys Championship Match:
Will Stewart vs. Patrick Adler – The Match started out All-Square before Adler took the lead on No. 3. He went 5-up on the 8th hole, keeping his lead thru No. 14, where he defeated Stewart 5 and 4.
