BUFFALO GROVE, Ill.— Players from three divisions competed in the two-round Summer Junior Elite at Buffalo Grove Golf Club on June 7-8. Roselle’s Nick Ratini (75-72–147) won in a playoff for boys aged 12-15, Lauren Gauss (81-78–159) of Plainfield won in a playoff for girls aged 12-15, and Lucas Burkhart (75-72–145) from Glen Ellyn won the boys 10-11 age group.
THE TOURNAMENT:
- The Summer Junio Elite at Buffalo Grove is a 36-hole stroke play event spanning two days. The contest is for juniors ages 10-15.
- Par for the boys aged 12-15 was 72 and the course played 5,957 yards. For the girls aged 12-15 and the boys aged 10-11, the course was a par 73 and played 5,229 yards.
THE BOYS (12-15) LEADERBOARD:
- Ratini was three over par in round one before shooting even in round two, which included five birdies, to move into first place. He took first in an on-course playoff.
- Thomas Haas (74-73–147), a Lake Forest resident, tied for second with scores of two over par and one over par. His two-round score was also three over par.
- Asher Moon (74-73–147) of Northbrook also tied for second with scores of two over par and one over par, making his 36-hole score three over par.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sam Kroeger, Duke McGinn, and Sam Schauenberg each made an eagle. For Kroeger, it was on the par five hole sixteen. McGinn and Schauenberg each eagled a par four, posting a minus two on holes six and one, respectively.
- Asher Moon led the field with nine total birdies. Ethan Chang, Davis Lockwood, Ratini, and Constantine Verros each had seven.
- Ezra Primosch made par on 25 of the 36 holes.
- Leo Kim made three straight birdies on holes 15, 16, and 17 during round one.
- Luke Patel went from hole three through hole 16 bogey-free during round one.
THE GIRLS’ LEADERBOARD:
- Gauss finished with a two-round score of eleven over par, winning the contest in an on-course playoff. She was seven over in round one and four over in round two.
- Willowbrook resident Sophia Chen (75-82–157) took second place with a two-round score of eleven over par. She was two over par in round one and nine over par in round two.
- Naya Shirsat (82-77–159) finished in third, shooting nine over par in round one and four over par in round two. Her two-round score was 13 over par.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sophia Chen and Lauren Gauss led the field with five birdies each. Alia Brazeau, Maggie Fagan, Amelia Gambla, Charlotte Giczewski, and Cara Spahic each made four total birdies.
- Shirsat made par on 22 of the 36 holes. Victoria Shao and Lily Wang each amassed 21 pars.
- Fagan, Gambla, and Spahic each made back-to-back birdies during round two.
- Shao went eight straight holes without a bogey from hole one through hole eight during round one. Shirsat and Amelia Jagmin went seven and six straight holes bogey free, respectively.
THE BOYS (10-11) LEADERBOARD:
- Burkhart was two over par in round one before going one under in round two, making him the only player in his age group to shoot below par in a single round. His two-round score was one over par, giving him an eight stroke victory.
- Luca Marinescu (80-75–155) of Deerfield was seven over par in round one and just two over par in round two. His two-round score was nine over par, earning him second place.
- Euan Tiner (83-74–157) of Saint Charles took third with a score of ten over par in round one and one over par in round two. His two-round score was 11 over par.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Euan Tiner made an eagle on hole one of round one, a par four.
- Burkhart led the field with seven birdies. Tinder was second with five total birdies.
- Marinescu made par on 23 of the 36 holes.
- Burkhart and Tiner each made back-to-back birdies or better on holes one and two during round one.
- Burkhart and Tiner each went seven straight holes without a bogey. Carter Lang and Marinescu each went six straight holes without a bogey. Sachin patel and Joey Perrino each went five holes in a row bogey-free.
