GLENVIEW, Ill.— Players from three divisions competed in the two-round Summer Junior Elite at Glenview Park Golf Club on June 12-13. Asher Moon (70-72–142) from Northbrook won the Boys 12-15 division, Madeline Gutierrez (75-73–148) of Schaumburg took first for the Girls 12-15 division, and Elk Grove Village’s Chase Perez (79-71–150) won the Boys 10-11 division.

 

THE TOURNAMENT:

  • The Summer Junior Elite at Glenview Park is a 36-hole stroke play event spanning two days. The contest is for juniors ages 10-15. 
  • Par for the course was 70. For the Boys aged 12-15 the course played 5,811 yards. For the girls aged 12-15 and the boys aged 10-11, the course played 5,390 yards.

 

THE BOYS 12-15 LEADERBOARD:

  • Moon shot par in round one and two over par in round two, finishing the tournament at two over par. He won by one stroke.
  • North Aurora resident Luke Patel (69-74–143) took second place with scores of one under par and four over par. His two-round score was three over.
  • Constantine Verros (73-73–146) of Hinsdale shot three over par in back-to-back round. He finished in third with a 36-hole score of six over par.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Charlie Forrest and Asher Johnson each eagled the par five hole 15 during round one.
  • Patel led the field with eight birdies. William Hare made seven total birdies and Leo Kim made six total birdies.
  • Verros made par on 27 of the 36 holes. Moon parred 26 holes.
  • Jayden De Leon, Jack Gill, Hare, Johnson, Kim, Chase Koelbl, Roman Kulik, Patel, Colin Pittman, and Trevor Schmidt each made back-to-back birdies.
  • Leo Enomoto went 13 straight holes bogey-free. Forrest and Sam Schauenberg each had an 11 hole streak without a bogey.

 

THE GIRLS’ LEADERBOARD:

  • Gutierrez shot five over in round one and three over in round two. Her two-round score of eight over par beat out second by seven strokes.
  • Victoria Shao (78-77–155) of Vernon Hills took second place with a two-round score of 15 over par. She shot eight over par in round one and seven over par in round two.
  • Palatine native Alia Brazeau (83-77–160) finished in third, shooting 13 over par in round one and seven over par in round two. Her two-round score was 20 over par.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Madison Cotey eagled hole seven, a par five, during round two.
  • Lauren Gauss led the field with five total birdies. Sophia Chen, Gutierrez, and Mirah Le each made three birdies.
  • Gutierrez made a par on 22 out of the 36 holes. Shao made 20 total pars.
  • Chen made back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 during round two.
  • Shao went seven straight holes without a bogey. Nicha Chaosaowapo, Gutierrez, and Annabelle Kutcher each went six straight holes bogey-free.

 

THE BOYS (10-11) LEADERBOARD:

  • Perez shot nine over in round one and brought his score down by eight in round two, shooting just one over par. He won by four with a 36-hole score of 10 over par.
  • Lucas Burkhart (77-77–154) of Glen Ellyn took second place with a two-round score of 14 over par. He shot seven over par in both rounds.
  • Hudson Hodge (80-80–160) of Clarendon Hills won third place with scores of ten over par in both rounds. His two-round score was 20 over par.

  • Burkhart made six total birdies over two rounds. Rayan Patel made five total birdies.
  • Perez made par on 25 of the 36 holes.
  • Burkhart and Patel each posted back-to-back birdies during round one.
  • Perez went 11 straight holes bogey-free.
