BEACH PARK, Ill.— 65 boys and 21 girls competed in the two-round MAJGT tournament at ThunderHawk Golf Club on August 7-8. Rayden Tee (75-67–142) of Hoffman Estates won the boys’ division with a 36-hole score of two under par and Yettie Bin (72-71–143) from Taichung championed the girls’ field shooting one under through two rounds.
THE TOURNAMENT:
- MAJGT at ThunderHawk Golf Club is a 36-hole stroke play event spanning two days. The contest is for juniors ages 12-18.
- Par for the course was 72. The boys played the course 6,516 yards and the girls played the course 5,636 yards.
THE BOYS’ LEADERBOARD:
- Tee went three over in round one before firing off a 67, or five under par, during round two after putting up four birdies in the last six holes. In a playoff, Tee made a long putt to win the contest.
- Charles Davenport (69-73–142) of Clarendon Hills took second place, also posting a two-round score of two under par. He shot three under in round one and one over in round two.
- Elgin native Tyler Samaan (76-67–143) took the third spot on the leaderboard after shooting four over in round one and improving to five under in round two. His two-round score came to one under par.
- Luciano Giangrossi (72-72–144) of Evanston went two over in round one and two under during round two. He finished the tournament even and won the scorecard playoff for fourth.
- Kev Wesolowski (74-70–144) of Westmont shot par across the board to finish even and take fifth place.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Davenport eagled the par five hole number 11 in both rounds.
- Samaan and Tee made nine total birdies through two rounds. Jake Douglass, Luciano Giangrossi, Logan Keeter, and Evan Rubernstein all made eight birdies.
- Robert Felicione, Jake Forrest, and Liam Kelly made par on 27 of the 36 holes.
- Jimmy Doherty made three back-to-back birdies to close out round two.
- Cole Beto went the entire second round without making any bogeys.
THE GIRLS’ LEADERBOARD:
- Bin shot par in round one and shot one under par during round two. Her two-round score of one under par included five birdies and an eagle.
- Brianna Chamoun (71-73–144) of Sycamore finished in second place with a score of even through two rounds. She shot one under in round one and one over in round two.
- Mayan Covarrubias (74-71–145) of North Riverside rounded out the top three with a 36-hole score of one over par. She shot two over in round one and one under in round two.
- Arlington Heights native Jennifer March (74-74–148) took fourth place with back-to-back rounds of two over par. Her final score was four over par.
- Rylee Brockhouse (74-78–152) of Muscatine, Iowa,took fifth place with a 36-hole score of plus eight. She went two over par in round one and six over par during round two.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Bin, Chamoun, and Covarrubias each eagled hole number 16, a par five, during round one.
- Chamoun led the field with six birdies made. Bin, Brockhouse, Emiko Chichester, Maxine Hurst, and March each made five total birdies.
- Covarrubias made 25 total pars.
- Bin went 17 straight holes without a bogey. The streak began on hole six during round one and lasted through hole four during round two.
