ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The 2016 Mid-American Junior Golf Tour regular season came to an end over the weekend at Mistwood Golf Club. In the Boys Division, Michael Cascino (2017) of Palos Park, Ill., carded a two day total of 3-over-par 147 to take home top honors. In the Girls Division, Nicole Ciskowski (2019) of Lake Barrington, Ill., carded a two day total of 9-over-par 153 to take the top spot on the leaderboard.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
The Autumn Open, played on the par 72 Mistwood Golf Club, featured 83 junior golfers from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan. The Boys Division played the course from 6,687 yards, while the Girls Division played from 5,720 yards.
Cascino, who held on to his first round lead, finished the second day at 2-over-par 74 to capture his first MAJGT victory. His final round featured three birdies and 11 pars.
Finishing in a tie for second were Jackson Castellon (2018) of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and Devin Johnson (2017) of Geneva, Ill., who each carded a two day total of 6-over-par 150. One shot back was Tyler Roat (2018) of Lockport, Ill., who carded a tournament total of 7-over-par 151. Rounding out the top 5 was Marcus Smith (2020) of Rockford, Ill., who carded a two day total of 9-over-par 153.
Ciskowski, who carded a hole-in-one on the par 3 No. 9, took home her first MAJGT victory at the Autumn Open. Her final round featured a hole-in-one, two birdies and nine pars.
Coming in second was Emily Duan (2022) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who carded a tournament total of 13-over-par 157. Rounding out the top 3 was Symantha Rohwedder (2020) of Prospect Heights, Ill., who carded a two day total of 19-over-par 163.
The Autumn Open was the last points awarding event of the year, the 2016 All Midwest Team will be announced during the first week of November.
The final event of the 2016 season will take place Saturday, October 29 – Sunday, October 30, at Kemper Lakes Golf Club. This Ryder Cup style team event puts Team Illinois versus Team Midwest.
