ADDISON, Ill. – The Illinois Junior Golf Association’s DuPage County Junior Classic concluded Sunday after several bouts of inclement weather. This event served as a local qualifier for the IMG Junior Worlds Championship.
The DuPage County Junior Classic (DCJC) was a 36-hole, individual Stroke Play event. The Boys 15-18 Division played the par 71 Preserve at Oak Meadows from 6,717 yards. The Girls 13-18 Division and the Boys 11-12 Division played the par 71 Maple Meadows GC from 5,631 yards. The Boys 13-14 Division played Maple Meadows GC as a par 70 from 6,223 yards. The Girls 11-12 Division also played the par 71 Maple Meadows GC from 5,340 yards. This event had an additional add-on option to make it an IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier.
The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.
In the Boys 15-18 Division, Josh Lundmark (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill., defeated Jack Paeglow (2020) of DeKalb, Ill., in a sudden death playoff that lasted one hole. The pair each finished the tournament with a 5-under-par 139 tournament total, both players will advance to the IMG Junior Worlds Championship in July.
Lundmark carded a nearly perfect opening round of 8-under-par 64, which included two eagles, five birdies and only one bogey. He finished the final round with a 3-over-par 75. This was Lundmark’s seventh appearance at the DCJC.
Tied for third place with a 2-under-par 142 tournament total were Reindl Weaver (2019) of Deerfield, Ill., and Kevin O’Regan (2021) of Northbrook, Ill. Rounding out the top five were Sean Curran (2021) of New Lenox, Ill., and Alex Eickhoff (2020) of Hillsboro, Ill., who each carded a 1-under-par 143 total.
In the Girls 13-18 Division, Grace Curran (2019) of New Lenox, Ill., carded a 1-over-par 143 tournament total to earn top honors. She opened the tournament with a 4-under-par 67, which included a bogey free back nine, and carded a 5-over-par 76 during the final round. G. Curran and Molly Lyne (2020) of Cary, Ill., have both advanced in the Girls 15-18 Division to the IMG Junior Words Championship in July.
Coming in runner up was Ella Greenberg (2023) of Rockford, Ill., who carded a 5-over-par 147 tournament total. Rounding out the top three in the Girls 13-18 Division was Lyne who finished the tournament with a 6-over-par 148 total.
Advancing to the IMG Junior Worlds Championship from the Girls 13-14 Division is Mara Janess (2022) of Barrington, Ill., who carded a 13-over-par 155 total.
In the Boys 13-14 Division, Alex Koening (2023) of Wales, Wis., carded a 5-over-par 145 tournament total to earn champion honors. His final round of 1-over-par 71 included five birdies. Koening will advance to the IMG Junior Worlds Championship in July.
Coming in second in this division was Jason Gordon (2023) of Northbrook, Ill., who carded a 6-over-par 146 total. Rounding out the top three was Aman Shah (2021) of Aurora, Ill., who finished with a 7-over-par 147 total.
The 11-12 Division, for both the boys and girls, was shortened to 27 holes after weather moved into the area on Saturday. Nine holes were played the first day and the full 18 holes were played for the final round.
In the Boys 11-12 Division, Alex Lee (2026) of Northbrook, Ill., carded an 8-over-par 114 total to earn a spot in the IMG Junior Worlds Championship and finish atop the leaderboard in his division. During the first round, Lee carded an eagle on the par 5, No. 8.
Coming in runner-up was Charlie Krasnewich (2024) of Hinsdale, Ill., after carding a 16-over-par 122 total. Rounding out the top three was Drew Schauenberg (2025) of Barrington, Ill., who finished the tournament with an 18-over-par 124 total.
In the Girls 11-12 Division, Allyson Duan (2025) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., finished the tournament with a 7-over-par 113 to take home champion honors. Duan opened the tournament with an even-par 35, which included two birdies.
Coming in runner-up, and earning a spot in the IMG Junior Worlds Championship, was Elle Astete (2026) of Hoffman Estates, Ill., who carded an 11-over-par 117 total. Rounding out the top three was Lisa Copeland (2026) of Naperville, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 14-over-par 120 total.
