AURORA, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Orchard Valley Open concluded Sunday after two exciting days of competitive golf. In the Boys Division, Luke Tedford (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard after posting a final-round of 5-under-par 67. Meanwhile in the Girls Division, Abby Cavaiani (2018) of Wales, Wis., took top honors.

The Orchard Valley Open was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition that was contested at Orchard Valley GC on April 21-22. The field was comprised of junior golfers ages 12-18 from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The Boys Divisions played the par 72 course from 6,746 yards, while the Girls Division played from 5,862 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Tedford entered the final round one-shot off the lead and went on to card seven birdies en route to his 5-under-par 67 final-round score. This brought his tournament total to 6-under-par 138. This was Tedford’s first MAJGT victory.

One-stroke back, with a tournament total of 5-under-par 139, was runner-up Parker Wisdom (2019) of Bloomington, Ill. In a three-way tie for third place, at even-par 144 for the tournament were Jack Crawshaw (2019) of Winnetka, Ill., Scott Boyajian (2019) of Aurora, Ill., and Marcus Smith (2020) of Rockford, Ill.

In the Girls Division, Cavaiani finished the tournament with a 2-over-par 146 total. This included four birdies between the two days. This was Cavaiani’s fist MAJGT victory, her previous best finish was second place at both the 2017 Shepherd’s Crook Open and the 2017 University of Illinois Open.

Coming in runner-up was Emily Duan (2022) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who carded a 6-over-par 150 tournament total. Rounding out the top three in the Girls Division was Jo Baranczyk (2021) of Suamico, Wis., who carded a 9-over-par 153 tournament total.

Next the MAJGT heads to Algonquin, Ill., for the Golf Club of Illinois Open on April 28-29.
