PROSPECT, Ill. – The Illinois Junior Golf Association’s first Junior Elite Event of the summer was hosted at Old Orchard CC June 3-4. The Boys 12-15 Champion was Eric Klutkue (2022) of Crystal Lake, Ill., the Boys 10-11 Champion was Nathan Kwiatkowski (2024) of Burbank, Ill., the Girls 12-15 Champion was Emma Lim (2020) of Naperville, Ill., and the Girls 10-11 Champion was Allyson Duan (2025) of Buffalo Grove, Ill.

The Summer Jr Elite Event #1 @ Old Orchard CC was a 36 hole, stroke play event that featured 90 junior golfers ages 10-15. The Boys 12-15 Division played the course as a par 70 from 5,851 yards, while the Boys 10-11 Division played the course as a par 71 from 5,398 yards. The Girls 12-15 Division also played the course as par 71 from 5,398 yards, while the Girls 10-11 Division played from 5,093 yards.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.

In the Boys 12-15 Division, Klutke carded 14 pars or better during the final round to maintain the top spot on the leaderboard with a 5-over-par 145 tournament total. This is Klutke’s second victory of the season, the first coming at the YDP Season Opener at Countryside in May.

Coming in runner-up was Brian Joseph (2020) of Wilmette, Ill., with a 9-over-par 149 tournament total. In a three-way tie for third, each carding a 12-over-par 152 tournament total, were Adam Bornstein (2020) of Deerfield, Ill., Clint Bailes (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., and Dori Lee (2022) of Buffalo Grove, Ill.

In the Boys 10-11 Division, Kwiatkowski finished the event with an 18-over-par 160 tournament total. This was his first IJGA event of the 2017 season and is first win. Coming in runner-up was Jack Mulligan (2024) of Burr Ridge, Ill., with a tournament total of 29-over-par 171. Rounding out the top three was Callan Fahey (2025) of Wheaton, Ill., with a 30-over-par 172 two-day total.

In the Girls 12-15 Division, Lim carded a 12-over-par 154 tournament total, which included a first round score of 1-over-par 72. Her tournament total included six birdies. This first place finish is her best finish thus far in 2017.

In second place with a two-day total of 13-over-par 155 was Stephanie Su (2021) of South Barrington, Ill. And rounding out the top three were Joyce Bai (2020) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Chloe Morrissey (2020) of Gurnee, Ill., who each finished with a 22-over-par 164 tournament total.

The Girls 10-11 champion, Duan, carded a 35-over-par 177 two day total.

The next Junior Elite Event will take place on June 19-20, at Glenview Park Golf Club in Glenview, Ill. Registration closes on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
