CHARLES, Ill. – The Illinois Junior Golf Association’s Players Challenge #3 @ Pheasant Run Resort on June 14-15. John Wild (2022) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., took home top honors in the Boys Division after carding a 3-under-par 141 tournament total. In the Girls Division, Maria Perakis (2021) of Glenview, Ill., carded a 2-under-par 142 tournament total to take the top spot on the leaderboard.

The Players Challenge #3 @ Pheasant Run Resort was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition contested on the par 72 Pheasant Run Resort. The Boys Division played the course from 6,424 yards, while the Girls Division played the course from 5,567 yards.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.

Wild carded a 1-under-par 71 opening round, which included three birdies. He carded a 2-under-par 70 during the final round. Wild’s final round also included three birdies. This was Wild’s third IJGA victory during the 2018 season.

Coming in runner-up in the Boys Division was Matthew James (2019) of Orland Park, Ill., who carded a 2-under-par 142. Tied for third were Jacob Wit (2019) of Elmhurst, Ill., and Dhilan Desai (2020) of Wheaton, Ill., who each finished the tournament with an even-par 144 total. Rounding out the top five was Allen Terman (2019) of Highland Park, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 148 total.

Also of note, James Ahern (2021) of Winnetka, Ill., carded a hole-in-one during the first round on the par 3, No. 17.

In the Girls Division, Perakis carded back-to-back rounds of 1-under-par 71s to bring her tournament total to 2-under-par 142. Her final round included four birdies. This was Perakis’ first IJGA victory of 2018.

In second place was Lizzie Anderson (2022) of Lockport, Ill., who finished the tournament at even-par 144. Rounding out the top three was Catherine Reisinger (2021) of Park Ridge, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 5-over-par 149 total.
