GALENA, Ill. – The Mid-America Junior Golf Tour’s Classic at Eagle Ridge finished on Friday after 36-holes of golf. In the Boys Division, Henry Knez (2017) of Northbrook, Ill., carded a two-day total of 1-over-par 145 to take top honors. Meanwhile, in the Girls Division, Emma Lim (2020) of Naperville, Ill., took top honors after carding a tournament total of 25-over-par 169.
The Classic at Eagle Ridge was a 36-hole, stroke play event featuring 21 junior golfers from Illinois. The Boys played the par 72 Eagle Ridge Resort – South course from 6,572 yards, while the girls played the course from 5,766 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
In the Boys Division, Knez carded an opening round 2-under-par to take an early lead. He went on to finish the final round with a 3-over-par 75 to maintain his top spot on the leaderboard. This is Knez first MAJGT victory, his best finish coming earlier this year at the Kenosha Classic where he finished T6.
Coming in runner-up was Jarrett Prchal (2018) of Glenview, Ill., who carded a two-day total of 6-over-par 150. In third place was Justin Schoenhardt (2017) of Naperville, Ill., with a tournament total of 7-over-par 151. Dallas Koth (2018) of Bloomington, Ill, finished the event in fourth, with an 8-over-par 152 tournament total. Rounding out the top-5 was Grant Labedz (2016) of Hinsdale, Ill., with an 11-over-par 155 tournament total.
In the Girls Division, Lim carded rounds of 85-84 to claim the top spot on the leaderboard. This was Lim’s first MAJGT victory.
Margaret Hoffman (2018) of Barrington, Ill., came in runner-up after carding a tournament total of 29-over-par 173.
The MAJGT heads to Bloomington, Ill., for the Championship at The Den on August 2-4.
